The US Army's 4x4 was manufactured from 1941 to 1945.  These small four-wheel drive utility vehicles are considered the iconic WWII utility vehicle, and inspired many similar light utility vehicles.  They were able to carry and tow many loads, making for a highly manoeuvrable army.
